Work-from-home scams?
April 30th, 2009 | by admin |gimbo25 asked:
All over the web, including career sites, there are advertisements for “Make $1000 a day working from home.” Now I would guess this one to be a scam, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any legit work-from-home jobs. I work a regular job on the weekends, but still need some extra income since I am paying my own way through school right now.

I can tell you about what I did to make money from home. I have two children and really didn’t want to work outside of the home, but having some extra money was something that I wanted. I decided to do some reading.
Gracious, are there ever some get rich quick schemes out there. I read about all of them over the course of two months. Nothing I saw really intrigued me until I read about Site Build It.
What is that all about?
Creating your own web site. My site is about resume writing. I know a lot about it and I have worked in the field before (for years), so writing about it is almost second nature.
I’ll list my web site below and if you want more information, click on the “My Passion” button on my site or click on the “Contact Us” button and ask me any questions you want.
Some people who have their own sites make a whole lot more than I do. I happen to have created a web site in a very competitive field. My next site will be more focused on a tighter niche as those tend to make a lot more money.
Anyway, it has worked for thousands of people and it’s now working for me.
I’ll include one other link so that you can read about other people’s stories. One young lady started building her site when she was a teenager and has completely financed her way through college with just one web site.
My site won’t do that anytime soon, but I like what I have built so far.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

There aren’t any home based businesses on the web that aren’t scams. However - there are plenty of things you can do as a home based business. Go to Yahoo Finance and search for ‘home business’ and read their article on the top 25.
YTB travel business and Treasure Trooper is a scam. In fact YTB is under investigation by the SEC and IRS, as well as being reprimanded for violations within the industry for false advertising and recruiting irregularities.
If RippedWalletFrancis posts - he is a major spammer - please be wary. So is Cruz52. Both have been banned repeatedly for massive TOS violations, but they keep creating new accounts and spamming. I just keep reporting them and any other scam spammer I find.
I had a nice talk with Josh Kopac, owner of Ripped Wallet. Francis and Cruz have had their accounts suspended, and I have been asked to report anyone from Ripped Wallet that posts on here against TOS of Yahoo and of Ripped Wallet.
BTW RWFrancis - are you 13, 14, 15, 16 or some other age? Your story keeps changing depending on the age of the question.

I am part of a legitimate work from home business.
My friends encouraged me to join after they began making nice money.
And no it’s no 1000.00 a day stuff. That would be ridiculous however it is a great opportunity. and if you are willing to work hard you can make really good money also.
If interested please check out this site

There is no way that ALL work from home opportunities are scams. Too many people are making money at it. Unfortunately, the vast majority probably are. I think the way to tell is by the hype. If you are being promised a whole lot of money for practically no effort - run. =) No one is giving out free money.
I agree with one of your earlier answers. You can build a legitimate business online by creating your own website about something you really know or love. I began in November with NO prior knowledge or experience and have a site of over 200 pages. Believe me, though, it takes time and effort, although SBI makes the process a thousand times easier by their step by step tutorials that walk you through the process and do half of the work for you - the “techie” half.
Check out my site if you like and get an idea of what you can do. My site suits my own personality and tastes as well as creative design. Yours can suit you. You can take a free tour of SBI to see what they offer by clicking on the link in my profile or just by clicking on the sitesell link at the very bottom of any page on my site.
This is the type of business that starts off slowly and gradually builds, but it is one that will serve you long into the future once you’ve got the ball rolling and done the work. That is one of the things that I love about it.
All the best.
