I’m a stay at home mom. Any work at home ideas that are really going to help?

I have a 2 year old, my husband works and makes enough for a to stay afloat. Barely have our heads above water. I have been fishing for work at home, and I keep running into scams or stuffing envelopes. I think the problem is, I am not looking in the right places. HELP!! Any ideas???

Webcam “models” and phone “actresses” are able to make really good money in a short amount of time. Of course, if you have a 2 year old in the house you may not want to be doing either of those things. But it’s always an idea! As a webcam “model” (you don’t actually need to have model proportions), you can expect to make around $25-$50/hr. I don’t know of any other work-from-home jobs that pay like that. Good luck!

No, really there isn’t much legitimate work from home businesses out there. What did you do before you had kids? Is there a way to still work in that industry from home?
When I was home with my daughters, I sold Discovery Toys, snack products, Avon, cleaned houses and babysat. Sometimes all at the same time. I would chose something that doesn’t have much if any start up, and something that will benefit your child or a hobby you have. Think it through. You might have alot of friends who like candles but really do you want to compete with Target? Good luck!

Try teaching English, you can do it at home and dont have to pay taxes unless you really want to.
Try TESOL course - it costs a lot, but it is only for 4 weeks and believe you will get all that money back in no time, if I needed it again, I would even take out a credit.
You can teach without TESOL course, however I am not sure you can have a very high rate of charge this way.
EDIT: now that I think about it - you are a native speaker, so there are a lot of people who will pay money for this.

I feel your frustration, trust me!! I started working from home when my kids were 2 & 3 and they are now 6 & 7. There were so many scams out there, I honestly was about to throw in the towel on the whole idea!!
Then I found a wonderful team of other moms who help each other work from home. Four years later it is still the best option that I could have found. Check out my profile to find out how to get free info.
Yes, the info is free and you actually have a real person(another mom) to talk to, not some e-mail or automated system.
Have a great day!

Hello, first of all I want to tell you I have checked out tons of work at home jobs..going to extremes of looking them up on the Better Business Bureau website..all the ones I have found have a NEGATIVE file..then I came across this work at home job..looked them up and they are satisfactory..they have been in business for 9 yrs now. I took the first step by giving them a chance and it is the best decision I have made for myself..they train, give you everything you need to actually make money and everyone who works for them are extremely helpful. I urge you to look over their site and watch the video that is presented (which tells you what the business is about and how you make a profitable paycheck). If you have any questions or just need more information please feel free to contact me, I dont mind helping at all!!! Just thought Id let you know about this because I have went thru the same thing you are going thru..looking at tons of online jobs to find nothing but a waste of my time. Good luck with whatever you choose to do!!

The problem with searching the Internet is that it is really difficult to sort out what is legitimate and what isn’t. I would say stick to researching places that others have experience with. One you might want to look into is the MOM Team. Start with and go from there. I have had great luck with them and by business is really booming. It’s one of those things you only get out what you put in - not a get rick quick scheme. But it really could be just the thing for you and your family.

Yes, I can help you!
I’m a stay at home mom myself and I can help you save some time looking for work at home leads.
First, there are a few cardinal rules for looking for ligitimate online jobs:
1) If they ask for any type of fees, RUN FAR AWAY!
2) You will most likely not find a plain ol’ data entry job.
3) Work at home jobs are not any easier than regular jobs you do outside the home, anything promising lots of money for doing nothing is a scam or a bad business opportunity.
4) Do not “process payments” for anyone, you could end up in the big house.
5) Is the job they are offering going to “change your life”, I doubt it. I go to church for that kind of stuff.
6) Legitimate companies will not advertise their jobs on banners or spam mail.
As you can probably tell I’ve seen just about every bad job offering out there and I get really irritated with all the promises and such. And I **** to see good people throw away their money.
Ok to start getting educated about work at home jobs you need to visit message boards and read, read, read. There is tons of information there that will help you avoid scams. Next, go to which is a free site that has a directory of legitimate companies that hire home workers. Depending on your skills and experience, you should find some good leads there.
One thing to keep in mind, is that finding and applying for these jobs can take time. Many times you will never hear back from jobs you applied for. This is typically because the competition for these positions is high and employers often get an overwhelming response. Create a good resume that you can taylor for each job you apply for.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Working at home as a medical transcriptionist is a legitimate work at home job, but you must train for it first. I do it and love it. There is good money to be made, but it’s not easy. Good luck to you.
